First Trip Preparation and SMILES! :)

Hey everyone! We may not be posting for a few days as we are going to be traveling for Easter.

Lindsay and Jolie are going back to Nebraska on Wednesday afternoon/evening and Josh and Petey are going to meet up with them on Friday after Josh gets off work. Then we'll come back on Sunday. This is normally a 5 hour trip with Josh, Lindsay and Petey and I'm anxious to see how long this is going to take with a kiddo. Plus--all the things we need to pack! I'll try to take pictures before we go because I'm sure some of you parenting pros are going to get a kick out of it.

Also, just to let all of you know we have officially scheduled Jolie's baptism. It's scheduled for Sunday, May 2 at the early service and it's here in Des Moines. Yay!

Jolie started smiling and laughing last night too! How adorable! Previously, she laughed in her sleep which was really funny and now to see her awake is so cute! But the little stinker only does it for Josh!!! We didn't get a great picture of it because as soon as we'd get the phone out, she'd stop. Hopefully she'll start doing it all the time and we can show you so much of it, you'll beg us to stop! :)




Since Jolie is sleeping right now, I better get back to packing!!!

One Month Old

Today Jolie is one month old! YAY!

She also has a little case of the sniffles and has enjoyed staying up all night and requiring to be held upright. Luckily we had some very smart guests--Grandma Buechler and great aunt Cindy stopped by and stayed the night. They showed us how to use the saline nose drops, snot sucker and (most importantly) eased mom and dad's minds that she was okay and we didn't need to make a trip to the doctor!

(Sorry I didn't get any pictures though and now that I think about it, I haven't been taking pictures with anyone really! Sorry to everyone, including Great Grandma and Grandpa Buechler who stopped by last week too! And to all our visitors--oh geez, now I feel like a meanie!)

Since Josh is working, I try to text him some Jolie pictures while he's at work, so here's a few from this week.

Officially out of newborn

Jolie has officially outgrown the 'Newborn' size as of this week! (tear!) We've used up all the newborn diapers and are now on size 1 and I just finished folding up all her newborn size clothes and washed up all of her 0-3 month clothes!

Her last weigh in was on March 17 and she was up to 7 lbs 10 oz so who knows what she's up to now--maybe 20 pounds or so? hehe

She's getting very strong though and is holding her head up a lot and really likes kicking too. The other day we had her laying on our bed and she kicked her brother Petey so much he finally just moved! Does this count as their first fight?

So here is a picture of Jolie in her last newborn outfit. She's ready for spring and Easter!




Again, you can tell she's so excited! :) I have a feeling we may be getting lots of these looks in the future...

Family Walk

We have been itching to get outside since it seems like we've had the longest winter ever! And last Sunday it was finally nice enough to take a quick stroll around the block. So we bundled up Jolie, got the stroller out, and put Petey's leash on and headed out. Petey did a great job of leading the way and was so excited to finally go on a walk again so he ended up pulling Lindsay most of the way. This is when it comes in handy that he's only about 7 pounds.




We didn't get a group shot (the neighbors might have seen us looking ridiculous) but we did get Jolie in her hat. She slept the whole time and all was calm so I think we can consider it a success! Doesn't she look so impressed? :)

Jolie's Many Faces

Jolie had her newborn pictures taken this past Friday! The pictures turned out great! We will post some pictures soon!

We also put together some video footage of Jolie's faces when she wakes up, does her business :-), etc. Enjoy!

1st outing!

We had our first big outing on Wednesday night. Jolie, mom, dad, and Grandma Dibbern all went to where else--but Jordan Creek Mall! We ate at the Cheesecake Factory and walked around the mall visiting all of Jolie's new favorite stores: Baby Gap, Pottery Barn for Kids, and Just Dogs Gourmet Dog Treat Bakery to get some treats for her big brother, Petey! We only had a couple major meltdowns while walking around, all in all, it was a great first outing.


Friday night, we went for Jolie's newborn pictures! It went great once Jolie calmed down and after about 4 diapers in 5 minutes, although we couldn't get her to sleep as our photographer had some great ideas for when she was asleep. However, we got some great pictures and look forward to getting those back sometime next week. We'll post them as soon as we get them!

Sleepy baby

Jolie is now 11 days old! She's still doing great, really likes being held, and otherwise just does the things that babies do. Lindsay is feeling better every day and Josh is back to work. Josh requires multiple Jolie updates a day while he is at work--he really misses her! Lindsay's mom, Lori is here this week to help us out. It's awesome to have two super Grandmas to take care of us! Not much else to report--here's some pictures of Jolie's typical daily activities.


Grandma Buechler says the "butt up" sleeping position is reminiscent of Josh! Josh has never been prouder to pass on a trait.

Petey's New Role

It's hard to believe it's been over a week since we brought Jolie home! She's doing great thus far and has a very protective "brother" in Petey. We were a little nervous Petey might get jealous that he was no longer in the spotlight but he has taken his protector role very seriously. He is the first on the scene at night when Jolie cries and is a good snuggle buddy for Jolie. Josh is going back to work Monday, although he wishes he could have another week at home. Lindsay's mom, Lori, came tonight and will stay with us for the week.

Crazy few days!

It's been a crazy few days! Lindsay woke up Thursday morning feeling horrible. Turns out she had a 24 hour stomach flu and it was Grandma Buechler to the rescue! Lori came down early Thursday morning and helped us a great deal with Jolie, the house, Lindsay, and just all those things moms do. Lindsay is feeling much better and nobody else got sick. So a special thanks to Grandma, and here is some footage of Jolie hanging out with Grandma. Keep in mind Jolie is 7 days old and by our estimation she is already reading at a 2-3 year old level (non-biased opinion).
