Official Stats and shots+teething=mad baby

Jolie had her 6 month check up and was looking good! She officially weighed in 14 lbs 10.5 oz and is 25 inches long. Sunday and Monday she was very crabby at school--I think those darn toothers were giving her trouble! Then we had shots Monday afternoon so Monday night was a LONG night! She was running a fever and was just miserable so Jolie and I stayed home on Tuesday so she could get to feeling better. She did love her ice rings though and we were rotating them as soon as they melted! Good thing we had several to keep her cool.

6 Months!

Jolie is 6 months old today! Crazy! Here are a few proofs from her 6 month pictures and what she's been up to lately.

-has doubled in size and now weighs 14 lbs
-wears 3-6 month clothes, although there are still a few 0-3 month clothes she can wear
-wears a size 2 diaper and size 2-3 at bedtime because she can soak through those things at night! ;)
-eats one meal and 5-6 bottles a day
-has tried squash, green beans, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots. I think she likes squash best or at least it seems to be the least messy
-goes to bed around 8:30 each night and wakes up around 7am (yay!)
-takes 2-3 naps a day
-loves splashing during bath time
-really likes having her ears cleaned
-can roll over from her back to her tummy really quickly, but has decided she'll just cry when she's done with tummy time instead of rolling from her tummy to back
-can lift her head way up or stick her butt up really high, but not at the same time. I think once she figures this out, she'll be a crawling machine!
-loves grabbing for things
-really, really wants a Diet Pepsi can. I started putting one in front of her when she eats so she'll look forward! hehe

Skipping School for Snuggles

Sunday evening Grandma Buechler came to hang with Jolie and had lots of fun as always. They went on several walks with Petey too and the weather was great for them! Grandma Buechler even helped us out with Jolie's 6 month pictures. Seriously, Jolie is such a stinker! Once we met with the photographer, she just sat there and wouldn't make any faces, no smiles or anything! She kept staring around at everything and spacing off, so we have a ridiculous amount of 'serious face' photos! Luckily the camera moves very fast and was able to catch a few smiles!

Grandma Buechler left on Wednesday morning and Wednesday afternoon I got off of work early because we had a power outage at work. It was like a snow day but even better because the weather was awesome! So Jolie didn't have to go to school much this week and got in lots of snuggle time with everyone! Yay!

First State Fair

Grandma and Grandpa DeDe and Uncle Brett came to Des Moines last weekend to visit Jolie. Uncle Michael decided the first weekend back at college might have a party that was too important to miss--hehe.

We headed over to the Iowa State Fair and I'm not sure if you're aware, but it's a pretty big deal. And maybe I'm a little crazy but large crowds of people, hot and humid weather and food on a stick doesn't usually sound like a super good time to me, but I figured I'd better not be a party pooper and I couldn't think of any good baby excuses, so we all went.

Of course of all people, I got lost from everyone for about 5 minutes when I thought I needed a drink. And I forgot a pony tail holder so my hair was all sweaty and then we were walking down this road and there was a bunch of people walking their giant cattle and goats and then came the giant horses pulling their carts and we were right in the middle--this is my nightmare!!! Don't I sound fun? But you know who did great? Jolie!! She just sat in her stroller and looked around and everything and everyone. I don't think she cried or fussed once! She was just so amazed by everything and took it all in.

We had a great time with Uncle Brett and Grandma and Grandpa DeDe and can't wait to see them again!

Josh lived with his Uncle Bill and Aunt Joni in Ohio for a couple of summers during college so he is loves getting to see them! Hopefully we'll get to see them again soon!

First Trip to Another State Other Than Nebraska

We headed to Sioux Falls, SD last weekend for Josh's cousin Courtney's wedding. We were pretty excited because several members of Josh's family that hadn't met Jolie yet were going to be in attendance. And Uncle Matt and Arah got to share in the joy of Jolie so they should be scared from having kids for quite awhile. We picked them up in Omaha and stayed at the hotel with us and a sometimes very crabby Jolie. How lucky were they? ;)

Courtney's wedding probably set the world record for quickest ceremony ever (which was good because I was worried about Jolie 'talking') and then we headed to the Sioux Falls convention center for a very fun reception. It was super nice because our hotel was attached to the convention center so we headed over with our stroller.

Tummy Rubs for Everyone

Jolie enjoys her playtime on the floor and of course, Petey loves to join in. And we discovered that both Jolie and Petey love tummy rubs! hehe



Jolie has Roseola, so she's had a couple fevers and rash all over, but she's been fine otherwise. The fevers come down with Tylenol and its not an itchy or painful rash so I guess its not a big deal (not a big deal to a crazy, obsessive mom!?!?--yeah right!!). She sure enjoys keeping us on our toes trying to figure her out all the time! Good grief! We're just hoping she does okay for our trip to Sioux Falls this weekend--especially for Uncle Matt and Arah who are planning on riding with us!

Josh had Tuesday off so they got a Daddy-Daughter day to play and even visited me over lunch at work. Nothing makes my day go faster than a lunch time snuggle! Thanks Josh and Jolie!

Jolie is still digging her food but it seems like each feeding is getting to be a bigger and bigger mess! I've even had to clean sweet potatoes out of her nose with Q-Tips! She also has quite the powerful sneeze and can easily launch food quite a distance.

The Inchworm That Could

We have a little inchworm at our house and she is trying really hard to crawl. Here's a little video of her inching her way to her pacifier. It was so hard for me not to help her out, but she was so determined and never got upset at all! What a champ!

Get over here Petey! And hold still!

Jolie would really love to feel Petey's fur, but she's just a little too slow. Every once in awhile she'll get a little bit of fur and her fascination with Petey just continues to grow! Beware Petey--you've been warned!

Henry and Jolie were had a great time at Great Grandpa's 75th birthday party a couple of weeks ago. They both liked playing with Jolie's feet and she can't wait to sit up big like Henry!
